Josephine “Josie” G. Prevost, age 94, of Cloquet, Minnesota passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Campus in Duluth. She was born on April 3, 1930, to Norbert and Hattie (VerBetan) Behl in Detroit, Michigan. During her early years, Josie moved with her family to the Cloquet Area and resided there for the duration of her life. She attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Proctor High School. Josie began a career with the telephone company and continued to work over 35 years. In her retirement years, she enjoyed many winters in Arizona and Arkansas with her husband, George. She was an avid cat lover and owned several Siamese cats. Wherever Josie was present, games were sure to ensue as she was known as an elite Yahtzee, domino, and card player. She took advantage of any opportunity to go out for a meal with family, friends, and many social groups. Josie was a member of Queen of Peace Church in Cloquet and was active in the circle groups, Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Foresters, and Legion of Mary. Josie was steadfast in faith and held her religion as the foundation of her life. She was dearly loved by many and served as an honorary grandmother to countless children whom she loved deeply in return. She will be truly missed.
Josie was surrounded by the love of so many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and friends who survive her, but she was especially blessed by the dedicated care she received from Vivian (Jim) Gangl, Dale (Pat) Helland, Tom Prevost, Jeryl (Jerry) Fink, Nancy Chartier, and Don and Deb. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Prevost; brother, Joseph Behl; beloved caretaker, Jan Prevost; and close friend, Eleanore Ehmann.
