Obituary: Brandon James Pederson

It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that we announce Brandon's passing. After many years of struggling with addictions and mental health issues, he passed away peacefully at his home in Cloquet on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the age of 50. Brandon's mind and soul are now at rest.

He was born on June 24, 1974, to Greg and Jeryl (Chartier) Pederson in Cloquet. Brandon graduated from Cloquet High School and entered the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country.

He was a self-employed floor installer and later became a journeyman ironworker. Brandon enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family whenever possible.

Brandon is survived by his son, Kendall (Ella Walsh) Pederson; daughter of his heart, Makayla (Seth) Kitson; parents, Jeryl and Jerry Fink; grandchildren, Rayne and Lily Kitson; stepchildren, Beau, Carissa Diver, Heather and Kelcey Soukkala; stepgrandchild, Tearzhae Soukkala; siblings, Robin Marine, Jenn (Joel) Soukkala, and Julie (Rob) Schmidt; nieces and nephews, Kate, Jordyn (goddaughter), Allison, Annabelle, Lauren, Jackson, Ryan (Kenzie Prior), Dominic, and Alex; and beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Greg Pederson; paternal grandparents Pete and Darlyne Pederson; maternal grandparents, Eleanore and Harold Ehmann and Gerald Chartier; paternal grandparents Peter and Lydia Fink; uncles, John Chartier, Kim Pederson and Jay Pederson; aunt Donna (Fink) Rabideaux; honorary grandparents, George and Josie Prevost; and beloved dog of 13 years, Logan.

A memorial Mass was held July 9 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet, with inurnment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery-Duluth in Saginaw.
