Derek Allen Moen, 55, of Cloquet, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024. He was born April 9, 1969, to Richard and Dona (Leuch) Moen in Cloquet.
Derek graduated from Cloquet High School in 1987. He made his home in Cloquet and worked as a custodian at Black Bear Casino Rrsort.
He married Toni DeRusha in 2016. He was very happy the last nine years of his life with Toni. She was the light of his life.
Derek was a gentle soul and he enjoyed fishing, camping, partridge hunting, taking rides, music, and old trucks.
Derek is survived by his loving wife, Toni Moen of Cloquet; stepson, Alexander Murray; siblings, Dallas (Shelly) Starkey, Shawn Starkey, and DeeAnna (Donnie) Aho; mother, Dona (Dennis) Starkey; grandfather Donald (Roseine) Leuch; uncles, Jeff Milberger, and Karl (Nicole) Milberger; aunt, Linda Anderson; cousins, Gerri (Kory) Moen, Cory (Jen) Anderson, Jim Anderson, Kelli Sayler, and Tiffani Ott; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Moen; and grandparents, Dolores Leuch, and Gladys (Harry) Milberger.
A celebration of life for Derek is planned for 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at the Cloquet V.F.W.
