Obituary: Peter Linden

Peter John Manford Linden, 95, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Cardinal Courts Villa Court Senior Community assisted living in Cromwell. Peter was born on June 5, 1929, in Holmesville Township, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Carl and Clara Linden.

Peter attended a rural school through the eighth grade, completing the second and third grades in the same year and testing out at age 13. He was united in marriage to Luella Corrine Janson on June 16, 1951. Together they raised five children.

Peter and Luella farmed in Rochert, Minnesota. Peter enjoyed farming and, later, logging. After selling the farm he enjoyed golfing and traveling with Cliff and Eleanor Janes.

Peter was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Luella; parents; brother, Dick Linden; and two grandsons, Troy Linden, and Nolan Caya.

He will be missed by his five children, Irene (Bob) Johnson of Cromwell, Keith (MerryLee) Linden of Detroit Lakes, Gayle (Dan) Heikala of Cromwell, Tim (Carol) Linden of Cloquet, and Todd (Lisa) Linden of Detroit Lakes; 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and a host of brothers and sisters in Faith.

Our family will forever be grateful for the friends and staff at Cardinal Courts for caring for our dad and loving him like he was their own special grandpa and dad. We also acknowledge the kind and compassionate care provided by St. Croix Hospice. Thank you for guiding and helping us make Dad's last month comfortable. The Cromwell community is fortunate to have this outstanding facility.

A funeral took place Thursday, July 18, at Eagle Lake Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. A burial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at Egelund Cemetery in Rochert.
