Wright/Cromwell News

The 59th annual Wrong Days in Wright is now in the books. This year's event was one of the best ever. The parade set a new recent record, I think. Our thanks to Mark and Linda Dahlman for their leadership this year, and for all the volunteers, vendors, flea markets, steak fry cooks and servers, and those ran activities that all added to the event. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way. Now, let's make next year's 60th even bigger and better. With that in mind, please collect any Wrong Days memorabilia for next year.

Our sympathies to Scott Aho on the death of his wife, Waneesa, 43, on July 19, 2024. She leaves behind her two young sons and many friends and relatives. Services are pending. Our sympathies to the family of Peter Linden, 95. He will be missed by his children, Irene (Bob) Johnson and Gayle (Dan) Heikkila of Cromwell, Tim (Carol) Linden of Cloquet, Keith (MerryLee) Linden and Todd (Lisa) Linden of Detroit Lakes, and many other family and friends. Services were held July 18.

The last day for the Area Clothing Depot is Aug. 3. Everything must go, so there are special sales until then.

The Cromwell Area Community Club met July 11 at the Cromwell Pavilion, with 37 members attending. Mayor Sharon gave an update on Cromwell Park, which is very close to being done. New volleyball courts are in place, and the park's grand opening and open house will be Aug. 23, more details to come. Other updates included plans for National Night Out on Aug. 6 in Cromwell. There was a suggestion to spruce up the park and do more trimming before then. Maintenance assistant Tristan Smith has been scraping and painting the picnic tables. The ice arena has been ordered. A pet immunization clinic will be held 9 a.m. to noon during Harvest Fest on Saturday, Sept. 7 at City Hall. There will be a charge to pet owners.

Planes were spraying woods for spongy (fka gypsy) moths near Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5 miles south of Cromwell. The club needs to order the holiday Christmas lights soon. Please send donations of any amount to Cromwell Area Community Club, PO Box 190, Cromwell MN 55726. The next CACC meeting date is 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at the pavilion.
