Anne Anderson of Cloquet passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2024, surrounded by so much love and many family and friends, after a bravely fought battle with cancer.
Anne was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Asheville, North Carolina. She moved to Minnesota in her teen years, graduating from Hill City High School. She married John William Anderson Jr. in 1972, and was blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home mom with her four children. Anne was considered a trusted confidante by all who knew her, and was referred to as "Mom" and "Grandma" by many.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Juanita Marteness; infant daughter, Sondra; father- and mother-in-law, John and Irene Anderson; and her husband, William "Willie" Anderson.
She is survived by her siblings, Kathy Hamilton, Lynne Montgomery-Pelkey, Jeff (Sara) Montgomery and Marty Marteness; children, Keni Anderson, Angela Anderson, Chris (Lori) Anderson, and Andrew (Farrah) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Tara Anderson; grandchildren, Winston, Paris, Portia, John, Michael, Levi, Jett, Xavier, McKenzie, Brady and Gabrielle; and six great-grandchildren.
Anne had many cousins, nieces and nephews with whom she shared a strong and special bond.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregiver, Ana, and also to Ryan with Essentia Hospice for exceptional care. "Long Live the Queen."
A celebration of life will be held 2-7 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at the Lost Tavern, 602 22nd St., Scanlon.
