Carlton Happenings

About two weeks ago, I attended the 60-year reunion of the Cloquet High School Class of 1964. If some of you are trying to figure out my age, I am 78 years young. To be honest, I have not attended some of the previous reunions for one reason or another. But I was determined to go to this one. It was held during a bright sunny summer day at the Big Lake Golf Club. No fancy food or program, just a nice get-together.

It gave each of us a chance to say hello and talk to classmates we had not seen for many years. On a sad note, 63 classmates — about a third of the class — have passed away. I think we all looked pretty good for our age, even though some of us may have new knees, hips or shoulders. Thank you to the classmates who organized this reunion. It was nice.

Rummage and garage sale season is here.

The next rummage sale will be held Aug. 8-10 at the Four Seasons complex: 3-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9-10. There are spaces available for a donation to the Robert Rodd scholarship fund. Contact Leola at 218-310-6065 for more information.

The Gigantic Garage Sale will be held Sept. 6-7 at Four Seasons. If you would like to donate to this Four Seasons/Carlton Youth Hockey fundraiser or want more information, contact Leola Rodd at 218-310-6065 or Danielle at 218-590-1569. Donations are being accepted now. No clothes, please.
