Native artist sought for mural project

Indigenous artists are invited to submit proposals for a community mural that would highlight “community, Ojibwe artwork, language (Ojibwe and English), and walking and bicycling” to be located in the bandshell at Cloquet’s Pinehurst Park, according to a request for proposals issued by Carlton County Health and Human Services. The mural and signage with artwork and both English and Ojibwe language will be paid for through a $16,200 Safe Routes to School Boost grant. The preferred applicant must be an enrolled tribal member or a descendant. Contact public health educator Emily Morrison at 218-4 09-3718 or [email protected] to find out more. RFPs are due by Aug. 28.
