The Lost Forester Runs of Pine Valley return Saturday, Aug. 24.
The unique event offers three choices: a 5.5K or 15K on the ski or mountain bike trails that run through Pine Valley's scenic pines and hardwoods, or 12.5 miles on and off the trails. The really interesting race is the 12.5 miler. It will be run on the Pine Valley and Pine Valley west ski and mountain bike trails, with some additional running off-trail following a ribbon line. Runners will have to collect data cards with their bib number. Each card will have instructions to tell them where to go next.
Runners will have 2 hours,
50 minutes to have a clean finish in the 12.5-mile race. More than that is a dirty finish. To finish, runners will need to run up the ski jump hill and ring the Lost Forester's dinner bell.
A word to the wise from race founder Tim Krohn: being lost means distances may vary a bit from the posted distances.
The races begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Register at blue-house.org/lost-forester. Race-day registration starts at
7 a.m.
The races support Blue House Uganda, a Minnesota nonprofit for orphans and vulnerable girls in rural Uganda that helps girls and young women grow in a safe, caring environment, and receive an education.
