Cromwell holds Harvest Festival this weekend

New to the Cromwell Harvest Festival this weekend is a bouncy house and a car show joining the long list of things to do, all in or near the pavilion at the heart of the small town.

Kevin and Sue Koivisto are grand marshals, and will ride in the hay wagon for this year's candy toss at 11 a.m. Saturday.

"Hopefully next year we'll be able to have a parade again," said Deb Switzer, who is excited to have a great team of volunteers helping out with this year's event.

She had high praise for the Koivistos, who have been active in a wide range of community groups, including the Cromwell Sno-Gophers, Bethany Lutheran Church and more.

"Their family started the Kaleb Anderson memorial playground," she said. "They've just tirelessly worked to help in the community."

The fun kicks off Friday with a steak fry 4-7 p.m. at the pavilion, and a home football game at the high school.

Saturday is the big day, starting with a pancake breakfast. There is also the Alzheimer's walk, a pet immunization clinic (for a small fee) and 20 craft and food vendors most of the day. Look for kids' games.

Other events include youth and adult bean bag tournaments, a chicken poopin' contest, a pie social, volleyball tournament, music by Todd Eckart, cornhole, a beer garden, live music and cash bingo. On Sunday there's community worship at 9 a.m. and the Riverside Drifters fun-and-games horse show at noon. There are also activities at the muni all weekend.
