Robert Lauri Myllymaa passed away on June 15, 2024, at the Delray Medical Center in Florida after a short battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 6, 1949, to Lauri and Agnes (Swanson) Myllymaa in Cloquet, and was raised in Scanlon.
As a child, Bob had numerous projects going, including building soap box cars and shacks, and he played on the Scanlon Yankees baseball team. He was a 1967 graduate of Cloquet High School, and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. Bob was united in marriage to Deborah Wilson in 1975. He resided in Lake Worth, Florida and worked as an independent contractor. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his Harley motorcycle, going to flea markets and thrift stores, and he had an extensive vinyl record collection. During Covid, he started painting abstracts, designing all his artwork in his home. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He helped his two sisters with many "honey-do" projects throughout the years. He spent his summers in Minnesota with his family.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Lauri and Agnes Myllymaa (Hendrickson); stepfather, Merrill Hendrickson; grandparents, Vendla and Andrew Swanson and Everett and Amanda Myllymaa; nephew Marc Macioce; and former wife, Deborah Wilson. He is survived by his sisters, Linda (Carl) Macioce and Joyce (Ron) Mattson; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Nelson Funeral Care on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a time of sharing at 3 p.m. A family inurnment will be held at the Apostolic Lutheran Church Cemetery in Esko.
