Brittney Helen Hughes passed away peacefully Sept. 7, 2024, in her home in Superior, Wisconsin. Brittney grew up in Wrenshall with her parents, Chad Twedt and Marielle Hughes-Twedt, and her siblings, Jenna, Eli and Billy.
Brittney graduated from Wrenshall High School in 2014 and settled into her most recent job for the past year at American Precision Avionics in Duluth. She was a confirmed member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet.
Although she battled Type 1 diabetes and the complications that stemmed from it throughout her life, she pushed through bravely and became an incredibly independent and self-sufficient young woman.
Brittney was a gentle soul who loved animals, from caring for toads and injured birds as a toddler to nurturing her own beloved dog, Dixie, and kittens, Eve and Merlin. She loved outdoor activities - boating, hiking, fishing and four-wheeling, and bonfires. When Brittney walked into the room, everyone noticed. Her beautiful smile and sparkling brown eyes will never be forgotten and her big hugs will forever be missed. Brittney was a true friend to so many, including her family.
A memorial service was scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Memorials may be directed to Breakthrough T1D at breakthrought1d.org. Nelson Funeral Care is making the arrangements. To leave an online condolence for the family, visit http://www.nelson funeralcare.net.
