Kayla Rose "Kayla Beans" Lewis (Aaswaa Miigwan), 22, of the Fond du Lac Reservation passed away Sept. 3, 2024. Kayla was born Feb. 4, 2002, in Roseau, Minnesota.
She graduated from Carlton High School in 2020 and was an excellent student.
During her time here, Kayla made countless memories with her grandparents and worked alongside her grandpa at Black Bear Golf Course since high school. Kayla had an incredible bond with her sister Larissa "Isa" and best friend Tiyana "T," and the three were inseparable.
Kayla will be remembered as a smart and shy young woman who loved to clean and organize, and could brighten up any room with her presence. Kayla also enjoyed her family pets, Zoey, Mittens and Glizzy. Kayla's hobbies included listening to music, hiking, swimming, tubing and playing board games. She loved watching the movie "Elf" and the TV show "3rd Rock from the Sun."
Kayla had an amazing smile, sense of humor, and a laugh that anyone could pick out of a crowd. She will be greatly missed.
Kayla is survived by her loving parents, Jenna Lewis and Dylan Tiessen; siblings, Larissa Raisch, Aaron Weitzel and Sage Weitzel; a nephew whom she loved with all her heart, Tristen Jr. (Babes); grandparents Virgina Lewis, William Lewis, Janice Shaugabay and Judith Raisch; aunts, "Auntie" Erin Lewis, and Darlene Lewis; uncles, Lee Lewis (Megan), and Maverick Lewis; cousin, Jack Lewis; boyfriend, Aidan Murkerson; and many extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Bill
Shaugabay.
A traditional wake was held Sept. 6 and a traditional service took place on Sept. 7 at the Fond du Lac Head Start gymnasium. Interment is in the Sawyer Cemetery. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
