A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
What another beautiful day in our area. The trees are turning color, and the sky has been blue. So much in nature to see and appreciate. I hope you can get out and about to enjoy this time of year.
I hope you have noticed the beautiful huge American flag flying over the Self-Serve station in Cromwell. It is a great addition to the gas station and the community.
As some of you already know, I have been subbing again this fall. My first day back was Sept. 6 in Floodwood, and I have several more days to sub in September. It’s great to be back; the only change is that I bring my walker, so I don’t fall. My balance has been a problem since my cancer treatments ended, but I can handle that. Better than losing my balance and falling.
The new Carlton County Justice Center had an open house Aug. 22, and many folks came out to see this wonderful addition to the county. The center is a state-of-the-art facility that houses the sheriff’s office, a 96-bed jail, state patrol and 911 communications operations, Sixth District Carlton County Court, including three courtrooms, and more. We can appreciate all the work and planning that went into this project.
Most of you know that the Area Clothing Depot in Cromwell has closed. You can still buy and donate items to Clothing, Etc. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The nonprofit thrift store is located across the street from the Floodwood post office.
