Departments at work at new Justice Center

Several departments, including all court-related operations, relocated to the new Carlton County Justice Center earlier this month, and are now conducting business in the new $75 million facility located on County Highway 61 in Carlton.

The county attorney’s office, court administration, probation, public defender and Sheriff’s Office have all moved into the facility, and are no longer reachable in the Carlton County Historic Courthouse in downtown Carlton.

The Historic Courthouse continues to house several departments including the recorder, assessor, and zoning and environmental services on the first floor, and auditor/treasurer and information technology on the second floor.

Voting in-person absentee and dropping off mail ballots still occurs at the Historic Courthouse in the auditor/treasurer’s office.

The old law enforcement center, next door to the Historic Courthouse, continues to house the dispatch center and jail, which are both scheduled to move into the Justice Center at later dates this fall.
