Steve Birkemeyer, American Legion commander, DAV commander Stan Heuer, student council advisors Tom Proulx and Jamie Jazdzewski, Cloquet Middle School student Hendrix Wilkinson, VFW commander Ron Stigers and Eagles commander Jason Smith mark the donation of 54 flags to the middle school.
On October 29, 2024 a presentation of flags was held at the Cloquet Post 3979 V.F.W.
Cloquet Middle School students had previously approached VFW commander Ron Stigers with a request for flags to be displayed in their classrooms. "It was a request near and dear to our hearts," Stigers said.
When the Disabled Amercan Veterans, American Legion, and the Eagles organizations heard about the request, they wanted to help too.
A total of 54 flags were donated by the four organizations. They are hoping to do a ceremony of a flag folding soon, along with the proper display of and etiquette for the U.S. flag, at the middle school.
