Catherine Ann Sollom, 74, passed away peacefully Oct. 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. Cathy grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1968.
She attended college at Bemidji State, where she double-majored in English and mass communications while finding the love of her life. In 1971, she and Bob married and embarked on a lifelong journey of love and adventure.
Cathy passionately served our nation for more than 30 years as a civil servant, predominantly with her beloved United States Marine Corps. Cathy's work took her on adventures around the world and she continued her travels with Bob during retirement.
Cathy's true passion was the family she and Bob created, a family that cherished her love and impact on the world.
She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Bob; children and their spouses, Hugh (Maureen), Claire (Brian), and Phil (Karin); grandchildren, Gregory, Ryan, and Bridget; mother, Jean; and siblings, Jack, Marty, Patti, Mary, and Flo; as well as a large extended family and many dear friends - all better people for having Cathy in their lives.
Covenant Funeral Home in Stafford, Virginia will offer visitation at noon Friday, Nov. 1 with a funeral service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembering Cathy through donations to the S.E.R.V.E. Food Pantry in Stafford or the Cloquet Educational Foundation.
