Obituary: Gail Beck

Gail Patricia Beck, 84, of Carlton passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Moose Lake Village in Moose Lake. She was born Nov. 23, 1939, in Duluth, the daughter of Wallace and Patricia (Lahti) Nickila.

Gail was raised in Esko. After graduating from high school, she attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. From 1971 to 1977 she was owner and operator of the Golden Gate Supper Club. Gail and Bruce left Cloquet and built their dream retirement home on a hobby farm in Carlton. They had horses, cats, dogs and fed a lot of birds. It was there where her grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed coming to visit.

Gail enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, gardening, and especially her time on the women's bowling league.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce Beck; daughter, Pam (McCausland) Pollard; son, Mark McCausland; grandson, Austin Davis; and sister, Marilyn Johnson.

She is survived by children, Roger (Candi) McCausland, Kitty (Dave Johnson) McCausland, and Jim (Billi Jo) Beck; brother, Wally "Nick" Nickila; grandchildren, Cassandra (Les), Alex, Logan (Jillena), Jeremy, William, and Noah; great-grandchildren, Pierce, Azealia, Sienna, and LeeRoy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Gail will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
