Wright/Cromwell news

As some of you remember, I love watching the World Series, which I recorded on my DVR Friday night. Unfortunately, the DVR stopped recording at the end of the ninth inning, so I missed the walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th by Freddy Freeman. I’m hoping to see the replay when I watch the next game, and you can be sure I am recording all of the rest of the World Series games or watching them live from now on.

Congratulations to Ari Dahl, as she placed ninth and qualified for the Minnesota State Cross Country Meet. She accomplished this at the section run in Coleraine Oct. 26.

Congratulations to Peyton Lace and Kalli Fjeld on being crowned Floodwood’s king and queen for homecoming. The folks in Floodwood can be so proud of your students and staff. The students are hardworking, kind and respectful to each other and especially to the substitute teachers — including me.

God’s blessings go out to Adan Sandoval Luna on his confirmation Oct. 27 at Grace Lutheran in Hermantown. Adan is the son of Angie and Eddie Luna, also of Hermantown, and grandson of Mark and Linda Dahlman of Wright.

The community club’s Hunter’s Supper is scheduled for Nov. 8. Prices are $18 for adults, $10 for those age 5-12, and free for those 5 and younger. They are asking members and others to volunteer with prep, serving and clean up.

The Red Bird Bazaar will take place on Nov. 9 at the school.

Parent-teacher conferences will be on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 6-7.

The Villa Vista invites all veterans and families to its Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11. Come and hear the stories of our vets and show your appreciation. The Cromwell-Wright School invites all veterans and community to the program at the school starting at 1 p.m.

Look for a special section on veterans in next week’s Pine Knot.

Get ready to turn back time as daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. This means earlier sunrises, sunsets well before 7 p.m. and for many, an extra hour of sleep.

That’s all the news from The Edge of Wright and Cromwell Corner.
