A detached garage in Skelton Township caught fire and was a total loss Saturday, Oct. 26. According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in at 1:27 p.m. reporting the fire at 3234 County Road 157 in Skelton Township. The caller indicated that no people or animals were in the garage and it was not close to the home. Fire departments from Mahtowa, Barnum and Moose Lake responded, along with Essentia Health Moose Lake ambulance and Carlton County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The first deputy on scene reported the detached garage was fully engulfed with flames. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical and no suspicious activity was detected.
