Obituary: Dale Kneeland

Dale Edwin Kneeland, 77, of Austin, Texas passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at home, following a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 22, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dale was the son of Delbert and Doris (Bunse) Kneeland. Dale graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1965. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was an assistant to the chaplain. Following his return home, Dale worked for Fisher Controls, which changed to Emerson. While working for Fisher, Dale received a degree from Buena Vista University.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sheryl; brother-in-law, Merlin Tritle; and his furry friend Shay. He is survived by his love and soulmate Phyllis Rousseau of Carlton, Minnesota; her children; Chris (Heidi) Rousseau, Sheila (Jason) Crisp, Jill (Greg) Rousseau, Jolene (Adam) Johnson; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Sherry) Kneeland of Bertram, Iowa; and two sisters: Caroline Tritle of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Jan (Fred) Laughlin of Fishers, Indiana.

The family wishes to thank Texas Oncology and Dr. Jaramillo and staff; close friends Richard Jenc, Roger Clark, Tom and Mary Schoen; special cousins Mike Vance and Marilyn Kneeland; bonus granddaughter Jessica (Marc) Steinberg; plus numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

We thank the wonderful Lord for sharing Dale with us. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, humor and love.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
