Carol Louise Chalberg of Cloquet passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024. She was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Duluth to Wallace and Florence Tetu.
Carol was raised by her mother and grandparents Gust and Sigrid Anderson in Mahtowa until the age of 6. She then moved to Culver, when her mother married Leonard Lamb Jr., who adopted Carol as his daughter. Carol married her best friend for life, Frank, on Aug. 19, 1961, and they raised three sons in Culver until moving in 2001 to Cloquet to be closer to family.
Carol was a dedicated U.S. Postal Service employee for over 25 years, in Alborn, Culver, Cloquet and in Duluth until retiring in 2002. In retirement, Carol and Frank enjoyed being able to spend more time with their grandchildren and traveling the country. Carol was a lifelong Christian, serving in many churches, making many friends, and regularly visiting rest homes and assisted living facilities in Brookston and Carlton.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Sr .; and son Frank "Frankie" Chalberg Jr.
Carol is survived by her sons Randy (Sherri) of Cloquet and Andy (Kandi) of Mahtowa; very special granddaughters whom Carol loved so much and was so proud of for graduating from college, Brittany (Matt), Ashley (Brady), Alissa (Josh) and Mollie (Josh); grandson, Anders, who always took care of Grandma after Grandpa passed; great-granddaughters, Maddison and Bellamy, who were so dear to Great-Grandma's heart until the end; special sister, Linda Williams; and wonderful neighbors, Don and Gretta Jarvinen.
The family thanks Aspirus St. Luke's hospice staff for their care of Mom, and Gretta Jarvinen, who was an angel with her friendship and care for our mother and to our family.
In accordance with Carol's wishes, there will be no funeral service, and a private family burial. Arrangements are by Atkins-Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Babinski Foundation animal shelter at babinskifoundation.org or
Salem Lutheran Church of Mahowa.
