Karen D. Larson, 82, of Cloquet died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at her home. She was born Jan. 8, 1942, in Denham to Charles and Beatrice Rundquist.
Karen grew up in Denham and attended Willow River High School, graduating in 1959. On June 25, 1960, Karen married Laverne Larson at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Lake. They moved to Cloquet.
Karen was a homemaker through the years while raising her sons. She also waitressed at Big Lake Golf Course and later worked at Weyerhaeuser in Cloquet. Karen also worked at Potlatch and retired after 21 years there. She loved camping, cooking, fishing, the Quilting Club at Bethel Lutheran Church, and being a 4-H leader.
She was well-known for the potato salad she would make for gatherings. Karen and Vern vacationed all over the United States and Canada and enjoyed wintering in Texas for 18 years with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Craig; parents, Charles and Beatrice Rundquist; and two sisters, Jo Lounsbury and Nancy Timonen.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Laverne; three sons, Tim Larson, Mark (Nikki) Larson, and Joel (Kim) Larson; 13 grandchildren, Troy, Jeff, Cody, Kara, Cole, Nick, Samantha, Ty, Chelsea, Derek, Elizabeth, Erin, and Jake; 17 great grandchildren, Landon, Lily, Aria, Rena, Morgan, Autumn, Freya, Lucy, Axton, Inara, Spencer, Wade, Jemma, Octavia, Mustafa, Brayden and Bennett; sister Marjorie Dobosenski; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gathering of Family and Friends: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, Nov. 8 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Lunch will follow the service.
A private inurnment will be in Faith
Lutheran Cemetery in Birch Creek Township in Pine County.
Arrangements are by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake.
