Obituary: Mike Timonen

Mike Timonen, 66, of Sturgeon Lake passed away suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, in Bruno while doing what he loved, playing pool with his teammates in league.

He was born Dec. 27, 1957, in Moose Lake to Arne and Nancy Timonen.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Beaver Township in Aitkin County. He attended high school in McGregor, graduating in 1976. He attended Pine City Vo-Tech for agriculture and took over the family farm.

On Feb. 6, 1982, Mike married Jay Smith in Moose Lake. They continued living in Beaver Township, where Mike was self-employed as a carpenter, farmer, custom cabinet maker, and mechanic.

He was most recently working at Savanna Pallets in McGregor as a sawmill band sharpener. He loved pool, golf, fishing, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chad Timonen; parents, Arne and Nancy Timonen; brother-in-law, Randy Smith; sister-in-law, Linda Jansen; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Joyce Smith.

Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Jay; son Eric (Teri) Timonen; daughter, Rachel (Ryan) Wuollet; grandchildren, Sydney Timonen, Justin Timonen, Ruby Wuollet, Noah Timonen, Raelynn Wuollet, Ava Timonen, Colton Timonen and Mallory Timonen; brother, Lauri

(Michelle) Timonen; sisters, Kathy Garner and Beth Garner; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gathering of Family and Friends: 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. Celebration of Life on Monday, Nov. 11 at Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake. Cookies and refreshments will follow the service at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be in
