Obituary: Catherine Sollom

Catherine (Lewis) Sollom passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 7, 1950 and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1968.

She attended Bemidji State College, where she double-majored in English and mass communications.

In 1971 she met and married the love of her life, Bob Sollom. Cathy served our nation for over 30 years as a civil servant, predominantly with the U.S. Marine Corps. Cathy's work took her on adventures all over the world and she continued her worldly travels with Bob during retirement.

Cathy's true passion was her family - a family that cherished her love and impact on the world. She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Bob; children and their spouses, Hugh (Maureen), Claire (Brian) Farrell, and Phil (Karin); grandchildren, Gregory, Ryan and Bridget; her mother, Jean Lewis; and her siblings and spouses, Jack (Nancy) Lewis, Marty (Juanita) Lewis, Mary (Gary) Lippo, Patti (Jason) Williams, and Laurie (Steve) Flankey; as well as extended family and many dear friends, all better people for having Cathy in their lives.

Cathy's visitation and funeral service took place on Nov. 1 at the Covenant Funeral Service in Stafford, Virginia, where Cathy and Bob lived for 40 years.
