Richard Milton Chabot, 69, of Cloquet passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born March 5, 1955, to Milton and Joyce (Thul) Chabot in Cloquet.
Rick married Barb Hunt in June of 2000. The couple built their home and settled into married life. Over their years together they enjoyed traveling, and made many memories on their trips.
Rick operated his own business, Chabot Construction, and later worked out of the Carpenters Union. After retiring, he worked as the maintenance person at AmericInn and Super 8 in Cloquet.
Aside from his career, Rick appreciated the outdoors from hunting and fishing on trips with his father and brother, to waterskiing, jet boating and jet skiing. The water was his favorite place to be. Rick enjoyed life to the fullest. He worked hard and played hard, but one thing you never found him doing was sitting still. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand when it was needed.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Chabot and Joyce Chabot Kozloski; stepfather, Jim Kozloski; parents-in-law, John and Marie Hunt; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Barb; sisters, Juanita (Bill) Hoffman, Nancy (Denny) Nelson, and Paula Swap; brother, Brad (Linda) Chabot; and numerous other extended relatives and friends.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the noon service in honor of Rick’s life on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. A luncheon will follow.
