Letter: Theater is a great community asset

Congratulations to directors Jodi Hodgson and Joel Soukkala, and the entire cast and crew of County Seat Theater Company’s recent production of “A Goblins’ Christmas Carol.” For several years I have been meaning to attend a show at County Seat Theater, but it has never worked out. I was fortunate enough to be in the audience on Saturday, Dec. 7 and was very impressed with all elements of the show. The staging was smooth and seamless. The scenery, lighting, makeup, and costumes were very well done. It was also great to see the wide range of community members (children and teens through seniors) on stage together.

I was also impressed with the theater itself. The lobby is attractive and welcoming. There were many beautiful art pieces on the lobby walls and the volunteers selling concessions were friendly and helpful.

Having been involved with community, educational, and professional theater for more than 30 years myself, I recognize and appreciate the multitude of people, sacrifice, and great energy it takes to keep an organization like County Seat Theater going. I commend and thank not only the folks directly involved with Saturday evening’s production, but the many community members, business leaders, and others who continue to support this great cultural asset.

I can tell by looking at the shows scheduled for their 2025 season, the theater company cares about entertaining and sometimes challenging its actors and audience. There is something for everyone.

I hope my schedule coincides with another of the County Seat’s shows in the future. I encourage those of you who live in the Cloquet area to continue to support this group. It is a real gem.
