Dolores Hazel Johnson, 98, Two Harbors, died Monday, December 23, 2024 at Waterview Shores.
Dolores was born Nov. 20, 1926 to Archie and Cecelia (Kesler) Lessor in Cloquet, where she grew up, graduating from Cloquet High School in 1944. She married Roger E. Johnson on April 22, 1950 and made her home in Two Harbors since that time. During her working years, Dolores worked at several different jobs including telephone operator, aide and bus driver for the DAC.
Dolores was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and its Women's Council, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, Women of the Moose. She was in instrumental in the establishment of the DAC and served as the first President of the Board and later on the Board of Directors.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and spent many hours volunteering at the hospital and nursing home.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; a son, Michael; dear friend, Ivar Petersen; a brother, Robert Lessor; and a sister, Mary Louis Rolig.
She is survived by her sons, Allen (Deade), Andrew (Kathy), and Paul (Nicole); grandchildren, Aaron, Leif, Julianne, Angie, Sarah, Rick, Joshua, and Luke; 13 great-grandchildren; and niece and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
