Obituary: June Marie Hill

June Marie Hill, 92, passed away on Dec. 28, 2024, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. She was born on June 10, 1932, in Cloquet to Uno and Olga (Savo) Karjala. June attended school in Cloquet, and went to a 32-year-long career with Diamond Brands. June was united in marriage to Arnie J. Hill in August 1947. They shared 24 years together before Arnie passed away Feb. 12, 1973. They lived in Cloquet and raised five children.

June was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet, and formerly belonged to the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko. She was also a member of the Finlandia Beach Club. She enjoyed working on word find puzzles and treasured time spent with family. Above all, June had a strong faith and love for Jesus Christ.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnie; three daughters, Marie, Marjorie and Gail; two sons-in-law, Floyd and Fred; two stepchildren, Donald and Charlene; one sister, Ruth; four brothers, Fritz, Roy, Edward and Reynold; and two sisters-in-law, Blanche and Eileen. She is survived by her children Diane Johnson of Cloquet and Randolph Hill of Carlton; son-in-law Richard Anderson of Cloquet; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An 11 a.m. memorial service was scheduled for Jan. 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Interment will be held in the spring of 2025. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
