Obituary: Marilyn Ada Steffer

Marilyn Ada Steffer, 91, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living. She was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Cromwell, MN to John and Ada Smith Gravelle. She lived there until she was six, when her family moved to Wright, MN. She married Harold Steffer on February 11th, 1953, in Wright. They lived there until 1955, when they moved to a farm in Tamarack.

She worked in several restaurants in the area and worked 9 years at Nelson’s Store in Tamarack. She was a homemaker for Aitkin County for 22 years and was a volunteer driver.

She was a member of the Tamarack Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She was the Education Coordinator, Sunday School Treasurer, and President of the Ladies Guild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1998; parents; sister, Delores Manninen, of Wright; brother, Allen Gravelle, of Lindstrom; grandson, Derek Eliason; and special cousin, Lucille Rham of Rock Lake, North Dakota.

She is survived by her son, Gerald (Lori), of Cloquet; daughter, Krista Steffer, of Cloquet; sister, Margaret Hawkinson, of Tamarack; grandchildren, Timothy, Paul, Kaylee, Amy; great-grandchildren, Emiliann, Hunter, Alexander, and Paul Jr .; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Special friend, Lorena Kelley, of McGregor.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 23, with visitation one-hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m., at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, MN. Burial will take place at a later date.
