Obituary: Terry A. Johnson

Terry A. Johnson, age 60, of Carlton, Minnesota passed away surrounded by family on January 2, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on June 22, 1964, to Warner and Maxine (Peil) Johnson in Cloquet, Minnesota. Terry grew up and graduated from school in Esko, Minnesota. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1984 to 1988, aboard the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. Following his honorable discharge, Terry became a man of many trades as he held various construction and carpentry jobs. He worked for Cirrus for many years and finished his career at USG. Terry was united in marriage to Michele Maras in 2004 and became a doting husband; it was clear he loved her deeply. He cared deeply for all his family, and they understood that his signature greeting of giving them "the bird" was his way of saying "I love you." Terry enjoyed baking cakes and did his best to make birthday cakes for each of his children and grandchildren. They will also remember the delicious breakfasts he made for them on weekend mornings. Terry was also a talented woodworker and enjoyed working on and riding his Harleys. He will truly be missed.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Michele; and beloved dog, Molly. He is survived by his children, Amy (Jim) Monroe, Katie (Adam) Bailey, and Mark (Nikki) Skramstad; grandchildren, Madelynn, Qwentin, William, Katelynn, Emmett, Emma, Maci, Hattie, and Chloe; siblings, Randall Johnson, Darrell (Linda) Johnson, and Toni Johnson (Terry); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
