Obituary: Barb East

Barbara (Isaacson) East, 91, passed away Jan. 1, 2025, at Evergreen Senior Living in Cloquet. She was born to Arthur and Lucille Isaacson in Sawyer. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Isaacson (Kim) and Sue Moroney (Steve); her son, Bob East (Kellie); nine grandchildren, Erik, Willie, Lucy, Lilly, Jacob, Jordan, Amber, Grace and Joy; and eight great-grandchildren, Everett, Amelie, Simon, Cecilia, Jay, Caspian, Archer and Michael; her cousin Val (Terry) O'Rourke; and other special family members and friends.

Barb grew up in Duluth's Morgan Park, where she began her lifelong relationship with her birthday girls and joined her family and friends working for U.S. Steel. Barb raised her family in Esko, where she enjoyed homemaking and her Northridge coffee group.

She lived in Cloquet for more than 30 years, where she was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary at the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital.

After retiring, Barb was an active community volunteer and enjoyed life with her friends in the Red Hat Society and the senior swimmers. She enjoyed gatherings with family, dancing, making fudge and banana bread, going on adventures, basking in the sun, playing at the casino, walking and swimming. She loved her family, enjoyed her many friends, and was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings.

Wherever she was, Barb made a lasting impression. There will be no services at this time, but when you think of her, raise a toast to Barb.
