Carol Ann Marciniak, 76, passed away on Jan. 5, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was born in Cloquet on July 7, 1948, to Lawrence and Patricia Hohensee. Carol grew up in Cloquet with her younger brother, Michael, and later her sister, Mary Kay.
Carol graduated from Carlton High School in 1966. After graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for one day and decided she didn't want to continue. Carol was married to Mark Marciniak on Dec. 28, 1968, at Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Sawyer.
Carol's first job was at the Carlton County Courthouse, a position she held until the birth of her son, Christopher. She chose to focus on motherhood, and later gave birth to her daughter, Traci. Carol rejoined the workforce in 1980 as a library aide with the Carlton school district.
She was an accomplished seamstress sought by many to create bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses. She made bridal dresses for her daughter and daughter-in-law, as well as countless items of professional apparel. Carol was also an avid crafter and enjoyed participating in craft shows.
Carol loved vacationing in Hawaii so much that it became an annual event for her and her family. She loved everything about the islands and would start planning her next trip immediately after returning from the latest.
Her greatest love of all was her family. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She was happiest and full of joy when surrounded by family at every holiday and every day in between.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and father- and mother-in-law, Pete and Connie Marciniak. She is survived by a son, Chris (Mary) Marciniak, and daughter, Traci (Clint Hilinski) Marciniak; grandchildren, Casey and Emily Marciniak; sister, Mary Kay (Jeff Mayer) Hohensee-Mayer; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Ron Riel; and a niece and nephew.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, Jan. 10 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. A lunch will follow in the fellowship room. Inurnment service will follow at the New Calvary Cemetery.
