Kettle River news

The Ma & Pa Kettle Days meeting is at 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Kettle River Senior Center.

For several years, Catholic Charities has been providing seniors with 20 frozen meals each month at a site in Willow River. I have recently learned that the program has been discontinued. This will cause higher food costs for many people, Also, the Barnum Community Church has been holding meals each Wednesday night for many years, providing about 200 meals each week. They also will no longer be doing this in 2025.

I am sorry to hear of both these programs being discontinued. Many people enjoyed the meals in Barnum, along with being able to see friends and also meet new people. It was also a way for some to be sure some of the older people were OK when they would see them each week.

Sadly, once these programs end, they usually never return. Thank you to all the volunteers who have worked so hard on these programs over the years.
