Letter: Lost horse update; and thank-you

“With hope waning, horse is found,” was a heartwarming story, written by Wendy Rockvam Johnson, about the disappearance, search and recovery — after two long months — of my horse, Taz. It was published in the Pine Knot News on Dec. 6.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people, many unknown to me, who helped by posting flyers and/or participating in our search: on foot, on horseback, online and on ATV. When we brought him home, Taz was grossly underweight, dehydrated and with an injury, so following the advice of my vet, I admitted him to their equine hospital for a few days to stabilize him.

Once released, the other horses were not all that happy to see him, because the herd pecking order had changed and they were suspicious of the blanket he was wearing. However, it didn’t take long for his favorite pasture buddy, Danny Boy, to be his guardian.

Now, two months later, he is with his herd mates, slowly gaining weight and healing.

We’ll never know his story, but we know the ending: which is with me at my farm.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Anne Gullion, Cloquet
